How to Participate

Interested in Social Justice?  Community Engagement? Program Design and Development?

Apply to be an intern or volunteer with the National Homecomers Academy!

This is a fantastic opportunity with an organization in DC that works for the successful re-entry of returning citizens.  Internship duties would include:

  • conduct research on project resources and develop program ideas and themes;
  • coordinate logistical arrangements for participants, including scheduling professional appointments with Washington, DC-based counterparts;
  • prepare and edit program handbooks, packets, and other materials;
  • assist in orienting community residents and congressional representatives to the NHA mission;
  • help to maintain and update a database of supporter, friends and sponsors;
  • work with program administrators to write short news updates on NHA activities; and
  • handle other assigned tasks as needed and requested by team leaders.

Please send out the Volunteer Application Form with availability, current resume, and a short writing sample to Curtis Watkins at cwatkins@phelpsstokes.org
